The TS format
TS is the broadcast container, also used by camcorders (.mts) and web streaming. The transport stream was designed in the mid-1990s for digital TV broadcast; AVCHD camcorders and HLS streaming use it too.
When to use TS
Use TS for streaming segments and broadcast equipment; convert recordings to MP4 to share them.
It is best for broadcast recordings and stream segments, and it opens on VLC and many TVs; phones, editors and upload forms often refuse it.
