Privacy policy

Your files

PDFs and other files you add to any tool are processed on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no copy of them, no record of their names or contents, and no way to recover them. Passwords you type into the lock and unlock tools are used once, in your browser’s memory, and never stored or sent. See no upload for how to check this.

The AI tools

Summarize PDF and Chat with PDF run on your device: they use your browser’s built-in on-device model where one exists, and a ranking model inside the page otherwise. They don’t call any cloud AI service, so your document’s text isn’t sent anywhere either.

The reading voice

PDF to Audio reads with Kokoro, an open voice model that runs in your browser. The first time you use it, the model (about 93 MB) is downloaded from Hugging Face, the open model library, and your browser keeps it for next time. Like any download, Hugging Face sees that a browser fetched the file. Nothing about your document goes with it: the text is turned into speech on your device, and the MP3 is made there too.

What we don’t collect

• No accounts, names, email addresses or payment details.
• No cookies of our own. The one analytics script sets two, and holds them back in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland until consent is given.
• No advertising, no ad networks, no affiliate links and no third-party fonts, images or embeds.
• Nothing about your documents: not their contents, not their names, not their page counts.

The one analytics script

Since 20 September 2026 the site loads Microsoft Clarity, which tells us which pages people use and where they get stuck. It is the only third-party script on the site, and apart from the one-time voice download it is the only reason a page contacts another server.

What it records: the pages you visit, roughly where you came from, your browser, device type and approximate region, and how you move through a page — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement.

What it cannot record: anything about your documents. The whole tool area of every page is marked so that Clarity blanks it out, which covers file names, page previews, result names and everything a tool reports back. Your PDFs themselves are never part of the page in a form anything could send: they stay in your device’s memory. The network log on every tool page lists Clarity’s requests as they happen, marked stats, so you can watch exactly what leaves and see that your file does not. While a tool is working on a file, Clarity is paused, and it resumes when the work is done.

Clarity sets two cookies (_clck and _clsk) to tell one visit from the next. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it holds those back until consent is given, so if you are in those regions no cookie is set. What Microsoft does with the data is covered by the Microsoft privacy statement.

To opt out entirely, block clarity.ms in your browser or an ad blocker, or turn on “Do Not Track” — every tool on this site keeps working exactly the same, because none of them ever needed a server in the first place.

What our hosting records

Like every website, FixMyPDFs is delivered by web servers and a content delivery network (Cloudflare). They keep standard, short-lived technical logs of requests: the address of the page, the time, your IP address and browser type. These logs are used only to keep the site running and protect it from abuse, and they are deleted on the providers’ normal schedule. They never contain your files, because your files are never sent.

What is stored in your browser

• Preferences, such as light or dark theme, in local storage.
• Offline copies of pages and engines (such as the OCR model) you have used, so the tools work without a connection.
• A file you picked on the homepage, for a few seconds, so the tool page you open can pick it up. It is deleted the moment it is read, or after five minutes.

Both stay on your device, are never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time in your browser’s settings for this site.

Email

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply. We don’t add you to a list, and we delete correspondence we no longer need.

Children

FixMyPDFs doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. We’ll never change it to start collecting your files.
