How to split PDF pages in half

  1. Add your PDF

    Drop the PDF of spreads — a scanned book, an A3 document.

  2. Check the settings

    Choose to cut down the middle or across it, and whether the covers stay whole.

  3. Save the result

    Save. Each spread becomes two pages, in reading order. Nothing is re-scanned: the cut is exact.

Why it doesn’t upload

Scanned books and bound documents are big files, and often private ones — notebooks, manuscripts, records. Cutting them in your browser avoids a long upload and keeps them yours.

Worth knowing

  • The cut is exactly in the middle. Spreads scanned off-center may clip a letter or two at the gutter — crop them first if needed.
  • Text stays selectable; the cut only changes the visible area of each page.
  • Pages are counted as displayed, so rotated scans are cut the way you see them.

What happens to your file

Every page is placed twice onto new pages, each showing one half — down the middle for book spreads, or across it — with the halves in reading order (right to left for right-to-left books). The page content is embedded, not rasterized, so text stays text.

How do I split an A3 PDF into A4 pages?

An A3 page is two A4 pages side by side (landscape) or stacked (portrait). Cut down or across the middle accordingly and you get A4-sized pages.

Can I keep the cover as one page?

Yes — switch on Leave the first page whole. Same for a back cover.

Does it work for right-to-left books?

Yes — under Advanced, choose right page first.
