Why it doesn’t upload
The PDFs people turn into images are often certificates, tickets, statements and IDs. Rendering them locally means the document is never copied to a stranger’s server.

- Very large pages at 600 DPI (posters, drawings) are scaled to what your device can hold in memory.
- Transparent areas are rendered on white.
- To get the photos inside a PDF at their original quality instead of whole pages, extract the images.

What happens to your file
pdf.js renders each page at the resolution you choose, the same renderer Firefox uses to show PDFs. Images are encoded in a worker, with the browser’s encoder or MozJPEG and WebP codecs compiled to WebAssembly, and several pages come back as one ZIP.
