  1. Add your PDF

    Drop the PDF. Its current title, author, subject and keywords fill in the boxes.

  2. Check the settings

    Change what you like. Leave a box empty to remove that field.

  3. Save the result

    Save. The Info dictionary and the XMP metadata are both updated, so every reader agrees.

Why it doesn’t upload

Changing a title shouldn’t require handing a whole document to a website. The PDF is read and rewritten in your browser tab, and nothing about it leaves your device.

  • Dates are written in your computer’s time zone.

What happens to your file

Title, author, subject and keywords are written to both the Info dictionary and the XMP packet, because viewers show whichever is newer and editing only one leaves the old values showing somewhere. qpdf saves the file so replaced values do not linger inside it.

How do I change the title of a PDF?

Drop it here, type the new title and press Save metadata. The title is also set to show in the reader’s window bar instead of the file name.

Why does my PDF show the wrong title in Google or a browser tab?

Browsers and search engines show the Title stored in the PDF’s metadata, not the file name. Setting it here fixes what they display.

How do I change the author of a PDF?

Replace the name in Author and save. Both places the author is stored — the Info dictionary and XMP — are updated, so no reader shows the old name.

Can I remove metadata instead of editing it?

Yes — leave the boxes empty, or use Remove PDF Metadata to strip everything including edit history in one go.
