How to convert CSV to PDF as a table, free

  1. Add your CSV files

    Drop one CSV or several. Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes are detected, and so are Excel’s Windows and UTF-16 encodings.

  2. Check the settings

    Check the header row and text size. Orientation on Auto turns the page sideways when the table is wide.

  3. Save the result

    Press Make PDF: the table is laid out, split between rows (never through one), and saved with selectable text.

Why it doesn’t upload

CSV exports are customer lists, bank transactions, payroll and survey answers: raw personal data in its most portable form. Turning one into a PDF in your browser means the rows never leave your computer.

Worth knowing

  • Every row and column is kept; nothing is summarized or trimmed. A 100,000-row file makes a long PDF and takes a minute.
  • Scripts other than Latin, Greek and Cyrillic (Chinese, Arabic, Hindi…) aren’t in the embedded font yet, so those characters are left out.
  • Formulas in a CSV are only text: you get what the file says, not a recalculated value.

What happens to your file

The separator (comma, semicolon or tab) and the text encoding are detected from the file, the rows become a table, and the table is laid out to the page width with its header row repeated on every page. Rows are never cut in half at a page break, and the text is real, searchable text.

How do I convert a CSV file to PDF?

Drop the CSV here and press Make PDF. The delimiter and encoding are detected for you; the header row repeats at the top of every page.

Why does my CSV show in one column?

It was saved with semicolons or tabs, which is common in Europe. Work it out detects that; if it guesses wrong, pick the separator yourself.

Can I fit a wide CSV on one page width?

Yes. Leave Shrink wide tables to fit the page on: the whole table is scaled down together, and Auto orientation switches to landscape first.

Are accented characters kept?

Yes. UTF-8, UTF-16 and the Windows encoding Excel uses are all read correctly, so é, ñ, ü and € come out right.

How do I get a table out of a PDF into CSV?

The other way round is PDF to CSV, which finds the tables in a PDF and saves each one.
