It keeps working offline

Because nothing is uploaded, nothing needs a server. Once you have opened a tool, you can switch off Wi-Fi, board the plane or lose signal and keep converting.

How to get ready

  1. Open FixMyFiles once while online. The site saves its core pages and scripts for offline use in the background.
  2. Open the tools you’ll need, and run each one once with a small file. That downloads any engine the format needs, such as FFmpeg for AVI or WMV, so it is there later.
  3. Go offline. Pages you’ve visited open from your browser’s storage, and the tools run as usual.

Install it as an app

Installing is optional, but it puts FixMyFiles in your dock, start menu or home screen and opens it in its own window.

  • Chrome and Edge on a computer: click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the menu and choose “Install FixMyFiles”.
  • Android: open the Chrome menu and tap “Add to Home screen”, then “Install”.
  • iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”.
  • Safari on a Mac: choose File → “Add to Dock”.

What works without a connection

  • Every tool and conversion page you have opened before, with its engines.
  • Batch jobs, large files and long videos: speed depends only on your device.
  • Saving results, including “Save all as ZIP”.

What doesn’t: pages you have never opened, and search results for them. Links to other websites need a connection too.

Questions

Do I need to install anything to use FixMyFiles offline?

No. Once a page has loaded, your browser keeps what it needs. Installing it as an app is optional; it just gives you an icon and its own window.

Which tools need to be opened online first?

Any tool you haven’t used yet on this device, and formats that need an extra engine the first time: AVIF, WebP and JPEG encoders, the audio encoders, and FFmpeg for older formats such as AVI, WMV, FLV and PSD.

How much space does it take?

The pages themselves are small. The largest piece is FFmpeg at about 31 MB, and it is only stored if you use a format that needs it. You can clear it at any time from your browser’s site settings.
