Trim a Video — No Quality Loss

Drag the handles, press trim, done. We copy the original video data instead of re-encoding, so it’s instant and nothing gets blurrier.

Where is it going?

sec
sec
Frame-accurate cut Off (recommended): instant, original quality, starts at the nearest keyframe (can be up to a couple of seconds early). On: exact to the frame, but re-encodes.

How to use it

  1. 01

    Add your file

Drop a video. It plays right here — no upload progress bar.

  2. 02

    Check the settings

Drag the handles or type the start and end. Pick X or Instagram to snap to their length limits.

  3. 03

    Save the result

Download the trimmed clip. In fast mode the original data is copied, so quality is identical.

Why it doesn’t upload

Trimming a clip shouldn’t require sending the full-length original to a server. Your video stays on your device, and fast trims finish in a second or two even for huge files.

How to check for yourself

Worth knowing

  • Fast mode cuts at keyframes, so the clip may start slightly before your chosen time. Turn on “Frame-accurate” if it must be exact.
  • Frame-accurate mode re-encodes the video, which takes longer and can change the file size.
  • Formats the browser can’t preview (AVI, WMV…) can still be trimmed by typing times; they use our FFmpeg engine.

Questions

Does trimming reduce video quality?

Not in fast mode. We copy the compressed video data between your cut points without decoding it, so every frame is identical to the original.

Why does my trimmed video start a little early?

Videos can only be cut losslessly at keyframes, which usually appear every 1–5 seconds. Turn on Frame-accurate cut to start exactly where you set it.

How long can a video be on X (Twitter) or Instagram Reels?

Free X accounts can post up to 2 minutes 20 seconds; Reels can be up to 3 minutes. Pick the destination above and we’ll set the end point for you.

Can I trim audio files too?

Yes — MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC and Opus files can be trimmed the same way.
