The short answer

Step by step
- Select all the files at once They arrive in your file manager’s order, which is usually what you want. Images can go in alongside PDFs and become pages.
- Set the order The list is the page order, top to bottom. Move a file with the arrows rather than re-adding it.
- Turn on bookmarks for a long bundle One entry per file, named after it. For a ten-document bundle this is the difference between usable and 200 pages of scrolling.
- Merge and check the seams Open the result and look at the first page of each section — that is where a wrong order shows.
